Drawing The Crowd: 2018 Audience Mapping Project

DrawgingTheCrowdISACS, in collaboration with Jack Beglin & Stephen Cadwell

In the spring of 2018, ISACS initiated a project to analyse and describe the nature and degree of public engagement with street and outdoor arts in Ireland. Drawing the Crowd is the first such study attempted in an Irish context and reveals the impact of street art on local communities and the demographic diversity of street art audiences. By gathering data from five festivals from around the country Drawing the Crowd has been able to provide a solid evidence base to support the rationale behind the work of ISACS. In this way, Drawing the Crowd offers a practical account of arts policy in action.

 Audience Aware

ISACS - Audience Aware Guide to Audience Research Help us gather accurate data going forward, by downloading our short guide to being Audience Aware here. This guide was created by Debbie Wright and the University of Limerick. This guide was developed as a tool for artists, festivals and programmers to find ways of gathering data effectively and practically.

In April 2014 ISACS received a grant from Arts Council Ireland to support research into audiences for Street Arts, Circus and Spectacle in Ireland. This grant enabled ISACS to work with Arts Audiences Ireland and the Arts Agency UK, who provided support and guidance. Debbie Wright in association with the University of Limerick, with input from Lucy Medlycott created a Street Arts Handbook, Audience Aware. Audience Aware is a guide for collecting, understanding and using audience information. This guide is available as a downloadable tool for any artist/company collecting data on their audiences.

Report into audiences for Street Arts, Circus and Spectacle in Ireland between June and September 2014.

ISACS employed Kath Gorman, Independant Consultant and Advisor in July 2014 to support the research process, analyse the survey findings and compile this report for the first stage of the audience research which you can download here.
